    David G. Wilken, age 79, of Trenton, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026, at home surrounded by his family. He was born October 4, 1946, in Breese, a son of the late Henry and Frances (nee Trame) Wilken.

     

    David married Vicki Wilken (nee Blackburn) on May 21, 1983, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso and she survives in Trenton. In addition to his wife, David is survived by his children, Adam (Rose) Wilken of Germantown and Mary (Kyle) Schneider of Greenville; grandchildren, April and Logan Wilken, Easton Finne, and Jonathan Schneider; siblings, Barbara Harshaw of Maryville, Mary Kay (Jerry) Winkeler of Glen Carbon, Bill (Pat) Wilken of Trenton, Donna (Bill) Book of Trenton, and Susie (Denny) Diehl of Belleville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rebecca (Mark) Myers of Florida, Karen Blackburn of Trenton, Deanna (Gary) Hood of Breese, and Jason Blackburn of St. Louis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     

    David was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Robert Wilken, Charles (Joyce) Wilken, Patricia (Alfred) Toennies, and Joanne (Butch) Gawlik; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Laverne (nee Baker) Blackburn; and brother-in-law, George Harshaw.

     

    David proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed at Circle Smelter in Beckemeyer for twenty-three years and later worked at Eaton B-Line in Highland, retiring in 2012. He was a member of Life Church in Carlyle.

     

    David enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his beloved dogs, Jim and Rocky. He also enjoyed watching MSNBC and lending a helping hand at the Blackburn Orchard.

     

    Funeral Service will be Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton with Pastor Jason McIntosh officiating.

     

    Visitation will be Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

     

    In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or Life Church in Carlyle and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 105 S. Main St. Trenton, IL 62293, who is serving the family.
