James B. “Brad” Hinkle, age 66, of Trenton, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026, at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon. He was born December 6, 1959, in Effingham, a son of James L. Hinkle of New Baden and the late Cleta (nee Richars) Hinkle.
Brad is survived by his father, James; children, Jeremy Hinkle of Mt. Vernon, Tiffany (Paul Casteel) Hinkle of Rockwood, Jessie (Kyle Thornton) Macdonald of Trenton, and Jacob Hinkle of Jay, OK; grandchildren, Austin McGehey, Cole Floyd, Kaleb Haley, Jojo Fleming, Chace Fleming, Iris Macdonald, and Jaxton Hinkle; siblings, Cheryl (Bill) Hinkley of Stewardson, Diana Parris of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Joshua (Sharon) Hinkle of Bloomington, and Laura (Nick) Adcock of New Baden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Brad was preceded in death by his mother, Cleta; partner, Laurie Castellano; and stepmother, Susan Hinkle.
Brad worked for thirty years as a machinist at Cooper B-Line in Highland, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. Outside of work, he was a proud member of the Trenton Sportsman Club and had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and mushroom hunting, and more recently had taken an interest in collecting stones and rocks.
Brad was an avid sports fan who could often be found cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and the Fighting Illini basketball team. He also enjoyed shooting pool and playing frisbee golf. A lifelong rock music fan, Brad rarely missed tuning in to KSHE 95.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to PKD Foundation (Polycystic Kidney Disease) and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 105 S. Main St. Trenton, IL 62293, who is serving the family.
