Robert R. Lynch, age 91, of Mascoutah, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026, at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden. He was born February 14, 1934, in Kansas City, MO, a son of the late Earl and Rose (nee Wolf) Lynch.
Robert married his first wife, Carol Lynch (nee Stout) and she preceded him in death on March 17, 1999; he married his second wife, Virginia Lynch (nee Owens) and she preceded him in death on April 29, 2017. Robert was also preceded in death by his brother, Earl Lynch, Jr. and brother-in-law, Dave Boyd.
Robert is survived by his children, Debbie Lynch of Kansas City, MO, Shawn (Beckie) Lynch of Champaign, and Clay (Susan) Lynch of Damiansville; grandchildren, Nina (Orie) Figgs, Dominic Scalise, Jacob (Athena) Lynch, Riley (Rick) Henry, Max (fiancée, Kayla) Lynch, Kevin Lynch, Danielle (Ben) Pingsterhaus, Rebecca Lynch, Lauren Lynch, Natalie Lynch, and Aaron Werner; great-grandchildren, Vittoria Figgs, plus Baby Figgs on the way in September, Meyer Pingsterhaus, Brody Pingsterhaus, Anora Jackson, Luca Carranza; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy Owens and Martha Boyd; and nieces and nephews.
A proud veteran, Robert served in the United States Navy Reserves. He began his professional career as a manufacturing engineer with American Car and Foundry Company in St. Louis. Later, he founded ICDI Home Improvement in St. Louis, successfully operating the business for many years.
Robert was a devoted man of faith and a member of Bartlett Baptist Church in Bartlett, Tennessee, where he faithfully served as a Deacon. He taught Bible school for many years in Memphis and later shared his faith with fellow residents while living at Brightly Senior Living in Mascoutah. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels, reflecting his lifelong commitment to serving others.
Robert found great joy in the outdoors. He enjoyed deer hunting throughout much of his life and especially loved fishing in his later years. Known as the ultimate handyman, he was always tinkering, fixing, building, and making sure every household need was attended to. His family will remember him for his organization, attention to detail, strong work ethic, and the love he shared with those around him. To his grandchildren, he was affectionately known as “Papa Pinecone,” a nickname that will forever bring smiles and cherished memories.
Robert's family will honor his life with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens in Bartlett, TN.
