- Full Obituary
Rex A. Whitecotton, age 70, of Highland, IL died on August 10, 2026, at 2:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland, IL.
Rex was born September 21, 1955, to Roy and Gladys (Followell) Whitecotton.
Rex and Kay met at WOW Camp in West Frankfort. Love at first sight - definitely shared socks! They both traveled different paths until Kay reached back out. On May 1, 1999, he married Kay Hundsdorfer Clark-Reedy Whitecotton, who survives.
Rex was born and raised in Herrin, IL. He graduated from Herrin High School and went to work in the Old Ben coal mines. After he moved to Highland he worked for Jet Aviation in the building maintenance shop.
Rex and Kay, along with Kay's parents, Don and Helen Hundsdorfer, traveled on motorcycles to many states, with Helen riding with Rex on most trips. Then Rex and Kay continued to travel on motorcycle(s) to the missed states, reaching their goal of all 50, and Canada.
Rex was a loving, caring man who liked his Miller Lite - but only after the ride - never during! He would help anyone with anything if he could. He will be missed by family and friends but mostly by his wife!
