Martha M. Essenpreis 90 of Breese died Tuesday May 7, 2013 at Breese Nursing Home.

She was born December 1, 1922 in Damiansville to Martin and Dora (Johnson) Eilering; they preceded her in death.

She married Melvin Essenpreis July 23, 1941 at St. Rose Church and he preceded her in death April 12, 1996.

Also preceded in death by a daughter Martha Richard, sons-in-law Larry Richard, Dale Keilbach, grandson-in-law Chuck Reilmann, great grandson-in-law Jason Brandmeyer, brothers Arnold and Arthur Eilering, sisters Caroline Eilering, Evelyn and husband Ray Pokorney, Cyrilla “Toots” and husband Gene Essenpreis, Brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Joe Trame, Richard Cortese, Leora and husband Paul Poettker

Surviving are her children Gerri Keilbach of Breese, David (Sue) Essenpreis of Oakland, KY, Melissa (Phillip) Koehler of Centralia, Vanessa (Kevin) Hilmes of Breese

20 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren.

Sisters Dorothy Trame of Mattoon, Lorene (Gerald) Huelskamp of Breese, Emily Cortese of Waterbury, CT.

Numerous nieces and nephews.

Martha was a homemaker, she enjoyed spending time with her family, loved the company and many visits of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese

Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday May 11, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Chuck Tuttle and Deacon Bob Lippert officiating. Interment St. Dominic – St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

Visitation will be held Friday May 10 from 4 to 8 PM and Saturday May 11 from 8 to 9:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Memorials can be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
