Wilma H. Graesser, age 85 of Trenton, died Friday, February 27, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville.
Ms. Graesser was born July 5, 1929 in Trenton, IL, a daughter of Emil and Mary, nee Huelsmann, Graesser; they preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Marie Graesser; brothers, Elmer Graesser and Carl Graesser; a sister-in-law, Cora Graesser; and cousins.
Wilma graduated from Trenton High School and earned her B.S. from the University of Illinois and her 5th year Apprenticeship and became a Registered and Licensed Dietician through Purdue University.
Her career included working at the University of Illinois Residence Halls, Trenton Milling Company as Director of the Test Kitchen thus becoming known as "the Betty Crocker of Trenton' for 8.5 years. Finally, she served 27 years as the Director of Food Services for the Roxana School District.
She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton where she was the chairman of the Wurst Markt and Funeral Luncheons, J.O.Y. Society and Woman's Fellowship, and a former Sunday School Teacher.
Her professional memberships include the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly known as American Dietetic Association), Life member of Family and Consumer Sciences (formerly known as American Home Economics Association), School Nutrition Association, Life member of the University of Illinois Alumnus Association, Life member of Clinton County Historical Society, and Clinton County Farm Bureau.
Wilma loved to travel, read, and watch St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and Wesclin Basketball.
She is survived by cousins.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton with Rev. Mark Stryjak officiating. Interment will follow in Trenton Cemetery, Trenton.
Visitation will be Monday, March 2, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, March 3, 2013 from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at St. John United Church of Christ, Trenton.
Memorials can be made to St. John United Church of Christ or the Clinton County Historical Society and will be received at the church or through Moss Funeral Home in Trenton who is in charge of the arrangements.
