Deacon Robert G.H. “Bob” Lippert, age 76 of Beckemeyer, born September 5, 1939 in Mascoutah, to the late Jacob R. and Leona M., nee Waigand, Lippert, died Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at his residence with his family by his side.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Lippert; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Mary, nee Schmittling, Remelius.
Surviving is his wife Lucille “Lou”, nee Remelius, Lippert of Beckemeyer, whom he married March 1, 1975 at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Belleville; his children, Robert J. (Kathleen) Lippert of O’Fallon, Renee M. (Martin) McColl of Festus, MO, Mary M. (Jeff) Gundlach of Smithton, James G. (Christy) Vogt of Nashville, and Joseph J. (Deirdra) Vogt of Millstadt; 12 grandchildren, Ashley, Lindsey, and Logan McColl, Collin and Callie Gundlach, Cody (Mike) Zelisko, A1C Clarence, Emma, and Mia Vogt, Lexie, Lucas, and Libbie Vogt; 1 great-grandson, James Zelisko and was anticipating the birth of his 2nd great-grandchild; a brother, Jacob J. (Anna) Lippert of Washington, MO; a brother-in-law, Richard (friend Brenda) Remelius of Belleville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He worked as the Audio/Visual Coordinator for the Collinsville Unit 10 School District retiring in 1996 after 26 years.
Deacon Robert G.H. Lippert was ordained with the Diocese of Belleville on April 19, 1997 at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Belleville, serving from 1997 to 1999 at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Belleville and St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in O’Fallon as the Director of Beacon, and was reassigned on August 1, 1999 to June 1, 2005 as the Pastoral Associate at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Beckemeyer and St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese and later became the Parish Life Coordinator, retiring June 30, 2015.
His educational achievements include earning his B.S. in Psychology with a Minor in Philosophy and Communications in 1961 from St. Louis University, and later receiving his Master’s Degree in Pastoral Services from Loyola University in New Orleans, LA in May of 2005.
Deacon Bob was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Beckemeyer, Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869, and the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Bishop Althoff Assembly. He formerly served as the Treasurer of the North Central Vicariate and was a former member of the Cathedral of St. Peter in Belleville where he was involved with the Cathedral Players Guild from 1954-1999 serving as Director for his final 25 years of membership. Deacon Bob also founded the Halloween Haunted Houses at the Cathedral Athletic Club in 1962, and reassembled “The Power” at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville after it was transported from the Knoxville World’s Fair.
Deacon Bob was fun loving and a true people person, he loved telling Boudreaux and Thibodeaux jokes, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Beckemeyer with Bishop Stanley Schlarmann, Fr. Chuck Tuttle, and Fr. Dennis Voss presiding. Interment will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery in Beckemeyer.
Visitation will be Friday, September 2, 2016 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, September 3, 2016 from 8:00-10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Beckemeyer. Knights of Columbus 3rd degree services at 7:00 p.m. Bishop Althoff Assembly 4th degree services at 7:30 pm
In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Augustine Catholic Church, or the St. Anthony Cemetery and will be received at the church or through Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th, Breese, IL 62230 who is serving the family.
