Marie C. Detmer, 98, of St. Rose, died Friday, October 14, 2016 at Lebanon Care Center in Lebanon.
She was born October 30, 1917 in St. Rose to Henry and Elizabeth (Trame) Tebbe; they preceded her in death.
She married Joseph Detmer February 22, 1937 at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose and he preceded her in death November 26, 1961.
Also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jane Albers; brothers and sisters and spouses, Christine and Frank Nordman, Elizabeth and Erwin Ribbing, Benedict Tebbe, Leo and Regina Tebbe, Otto Tebbe (her twin brother), Joseph and Regina Tebbe, Emil and Irene Tebbe, Aloys Tebbe, and Aloysius Tebbe; and sons-in-law, Wayne Draper and Alex Schrage.
Surviving are her children, Henry (Pat) Detmer of St. Rose, Carolyn (fiancé Dennis Barker) Draper of Breese, Judy Schrage of St. Rose, Norma (Richard) Rothengass of Aviston, Francis “Butch” (Irene) Detmer of Shattuc, Linda (Bob) Grapperhaus of Shattuc, Robert (Helen) Detmer of St. Rose, and Jerry “Red” (Lynn) Detmer of Aviston.
21 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 1 step-great-grandchild.

Marie was a homemaker and formerly worked at Jakel Manufacturing in Highland from 1965 to 1984. She was an avid quilter, enjoyed playing cards, and loved to travel.
She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and Altar Sodality, and the Golden Age in St. Rose.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 2:00 pm at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose with Fr. Edward Schaefer presiding. Interment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, St. Rose Cemetery, or to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be received at the funeral home.
