Dale J. Essenpreis, age 65 of Breese, born March 12, 1952 in Breese, a son of the late Jim and Dot, nee Rolfingsmeyer, Essenpreis, died Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ralph Wilke; and nephews, Craig Hoerchler and Jared Essenpreis-Wellen.
Surviving is his wife, Helen, nee Wilke, Essenpreis of Breese, whom he married September 18, 1976 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese; his children, Brett (Bryan) Beer of Aviston, Brad (Lauren) Essenpreis of Aviston, and Luke Essenpreis of Breese; 2 grandsons, Paxton and Asher Beer; a sister, Sandy (Jim Schrage) Essenpreis of Jamestown; his mother-in-law, Theodora, nee Huelsmann, Wilke of Breese; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David (Jayme) Wilke of Highland, Paul Wilke of Atlanta, GA, Linus (Leann) Wilke of Breese, and Virgil (Suzanne) Wilke of Highland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dale was the former owner/operator of DJE Construction in Breese and recently retired from Eaton in Troy. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, was the past president of the Breese Optimist Club, and was a former coach of his children’s little league, soccer, and basketball teams. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, putting up his annual Christmas Lights display in which he had won several awards, but most of all spending time with his grandsons.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter and Fr. James Buerster officiating. Interment will follow in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Breese Chamber of Commerce Park Christmas Lighting, St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, or to Mater Dei High School and will be received at the church or though Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th, Breese, IL 62230 who is serving the family.
