    John E. Gudinas, age 81, of Trenton, born November 20, 1935 in E. St. Louis, a son of the late John A. and Constance, nee Grubis, Gudinas, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

     

    In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, John W. “Frank” Gudinas; a grandson, Ryan Gudinas; sisters, Francine Rokita and Marguerite Woods; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Leona, nee Shubert, Koenig; and a sister-in-law, Anne Koenig.

     

    Surviving is his wife, Jackie, nee Koenig, Gudinas of Trenton, whom he married February 6, 1960 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Washington Park; his children, Joan Gudinas of San Antonio, TX, James (Aubrey Trujillo) Gudinas of Pueblo, CO, Janice (David) Spradling of O’Fallon, Jennifer (Shanubh) Desai of College Station, TX, Julie (David) Seed of Honolulu, HI, and Jacquelyn (Kalyana) Prattipati of Austin, TX; his grandchildren, Colby Gudinas, Jessica Thiebaut, Matthew and Zachary Spradling, Ethan and Kalindi Desai, Kate and Jack Seed, and Nora Prattipati; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald (Joann) Rokita of Greenville, Everett Woods of New Baden, William (Patsy) Koenig and Ronald (Penny) Koenig all of Summerfield, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     

    John was a veteran of the United States Army, retired as a Railway Clerk with Norfolk & Southern Railroad and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Trenton and the Railroad Clerk’s Union. He enjoyed reading and history, and keeping up with world events.

     

    Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Trenton with Fr. Joseph Rascher presiding. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Trenton.

     

    Visitation will be Friday, July 14, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

     

    Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Altar Sodality, St. Mary’s Cemetery, or to the Sugar Creek Ambulance and will be received at the funeral home.
