Doris M. Jones, age 87, of Trenton, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at her residence.
Mrs. Jones was born June 12, 1930 in Trenton, a daughter of the late Eldred and Florence (Lauer) Spies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Keith Lyle Jones; sister, Jean Krider and her husband George; brother, Louis Spies; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leon and Pearle, nee Moravek, Jones; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David Hundsdorfer, Christine and Clyde Hughes, Lou and Don Jackson.
Surviving are her husband Leon Jones of Trenton, whom she married June 16, 1951 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Trenton; children, Betty (Chuck) Curtis of Vian, OK, Stephen (Janet) Jones of New Haven, MO, and Michael Jones of Trenton; grandchildren, Amanda (Roger) Brooks, Anissa (Juan) Romo, Josh Jones, Angel (John) Schoenberger, Alicia Engle, Ashley (Joe) Monitor, and Christopher Jones; great-grandchildren, Nick, Allana, and Alex Romo, Blaze Kahler, Alliyah, Ava, and Aiden Sweeney, Austin and Autumn Engle, Ian, Devlin, and Natalie Monitor; sister, Mary Hundsdorfer of Highland; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Trudy (Adrian) Toennies of Trenton and Glenn (Rachel) Jones of Sylacauga, AL.
Doris retired as the City Clerk of Trenton and was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Trenton where she was very involved in the J.O.Y. Society and Sunshine Ministry. She also dedicated her time to the church by teaching Sunday school, baking for all church events, and as the director of the kitchen committee. Doris, along with her husband Leon, enjoyed making stained glass items, wintering in Texas and Florida, walking on the beach, but most of all spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doris also loved birdwatching and tending to her flower garden.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Trenton with Pastor Christy Eckert officiating. Interment will follow in Trenton Cemetery, Trenton.
Visitation will be Monday, May 14, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 9:00-9:45 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.
Memorials may be made to the St. John’s United Church of Christ Kitchen and will be received at the funeral home.
