Alfred B. Husmann, 89, of Breese, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Breese Nursing Home.
Mr. Husmann was born November 25, 1922 in Breese to Nicholas and Catherine (Moss) Husmann; they preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant son, Gerard Husmann; an infant daughter, Mary Husmann; a great-grandson, Landen Christopher Detmer; a brother, Bernard Husmann; sisters, Elsie Oakley, Marcella Poelker, and Loretta Dreher; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George Laubner and Belle Laubner-Herbert; step-father-in-law, Earl Herbert; and brothers-in-law, Oscar Oakley and Vincent Fonke.
He married Fay Laubner on April 24, 1954 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese and she survives in Breese.
Also surviving are his children, Susanne (Robert) Albers of Aviston, Kathy (Dan) Crain of Breese, Nicholas (Judy) Husmann of Breese, Julie Tucker of Edwardsville, and Geri (Dale) Detmer of Breese; 14 Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grandchildren; a brother, Raymond (Rose) Husmann of Breese; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ben Poelker of Belleville, Trudy Husmann of Breese, Frank Dreher of Chicago, George (Peggy) Laubner of Bombay, FL, and Belle Fonke of Fayetteville, NC.
Alfred retired as a pipefitter/welder from Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America in Hoffmann.
He was a member of St. Dominic Church and the Martin Bird Club. Alfred was a devoted family man and an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, especially at Carlyle Lake and training bird dogs.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Fr. Patrick Peter officiating. Interment will follow at St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.
Visitation will be Monday, February 20, 2012 from 9:00-11:00 AM at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese.
Memorials can be made to St. Dominic Church and will be received at the church or through Moss Funeral Home in Breese who is in charge of the arrangements.
