Maria “Mary” Griesbaum

Maria “Mary” Griesbaum, age 72, of New Baden, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden.

She was born January 30, 1948 in Hainstadt, Germany, the daughter of the late Phillipp and Ludmilla Hödl.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Johann.

Surviving are sons Gary (Robin) Griesbaum of Trenton and James Griesbaum of Cape Girardeau, MO; grandchildren, Megan, Tyler, and Allie Griesbaum; and siblings, Anna, Theresia, Hermina, Brigitta, Hilda, Traudy, Irene, Herbert, Elizabeth, Otto, and Hellen.

Mary formerly worked at Jakel Industries and Basler Electric in Highland and was a homemaker.  She was known by many for her sense of humor, blunt personality, and her love for playing bingo.  Most of all, she will be remembered for her generous actions, always there to provide a helping hand and for putting others needs in front of her own.  Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, and she absolutely adored her grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton with Deacon John Fridley officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Clinton Manor Living Center Activity Fund and will be received at the funeral home.
