Rex W. Bell, MGST, USAF, Ret., age 84, of Trenton, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at his residence.
He was born August 8, 1935 in Morganfield, KY, a son of the late Charles and Mary Louise, nee Leschner, Bell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Frank, Karl, and William Bell; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tony and Bertha, nee Eversgerd, Thuenemann; and a sister-in-law, Ann Bell.
Surviving are his wife Mary Lou, nee Thuenemann, Bell of Trenton, whom he married December 28, 1963 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton; sons, Kevin (Lisa) Bell and Michael (Lori) Bell all of Trenton; grandchildren, Zachary and Casey Bell, Bailey and Connor Bell; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Ann Bell of California, Judy Bell of Clarksville, IN, Marlene Bann of Trenton, Laverne (Mary Lou) Thuenemann of Trenton, and Margie Diekemper of Carlyle; and nieces and nephews.
Rex retired in 1979 from the United States Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant (MSGT). He later worked as a shift supervisor at B-Line in Highland and in shipping at Jim’s Formal Wear in Trenton. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and fishing.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton with Fr. Joseph Rascher presiding. Interment with full military honors accorded by the Scott Air Force Military Honors Team will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Trenton.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 9:00-10:45 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the church or through Moss Funeral Home in Trenton who is serving the Bell family.
