Martha M. Wobbe 84 of Breese died Sunday April 29, 2012 at her home.

She was born May 22, 1927 in Breese to Alvin and Lenore (Bingham) Holtgrave: they preceded her in death.

She married Fremont “Slugger” Wobbe October 23, 1946 at St. Dominic Church in Breese and he preceded her in death March 3, 1992.

Also preceded in death by a son Dennis Wobbe, Sisters Carolyn Fredenberg, Rita Christinsin, Ruth Donnewald, a brother Raymond Holtgrave. Brothers in-law and sisters-in-law Peter Fredenberg, Alan “Chris” Christinsin, James Donnewald, Jerry Farrell, Shirley Holtgrave, Larry Brauch, Fern Wobbe, Ferdinand Steiner, Loraine and Elmer Hochuli, Martha and Alphonse Strieker, Harold Wobbe and Bernell Wobbe.

Surviving are her children Maureen (Robert) Hernandez of Wheaton, IL, Larry (Cheryl Neulist) Wobbe of Trenton, Anita (Dr. William) Greenwald of Highland, Neil (Brenda Hughes) Wobbe of St. Charles, MO.

3 grandchildren Brett (Christine) Thoele, Jamie (Daniel) Beer, Matthew (Ashley Mensing) Gramann

5 Great grandchildren Sean, Olivia and Cecilia Thoele, Amelia and Vivian Beer

Martha and her husband owned and operated V&H Recreation, Avon Theater and Breese Drive In.

She was a member of St. Dominic Church, Breese American Legion Auxiliary Post 252, Gold Star Mother, Bowling Proprietors Association and Clinton County Tavern Association. She enjoyed bowling, horse racing, Cardinals baseball and cutting lawn.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday May 3, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Dominic Church with Fr. Patrick Peter officiating. Interment St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday May 2 from 4 to 9 PM and Thursday May 3 from 9 to 10:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Breese American Legion Auxiliary will hold services Wednesday May 2 at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to the Donors’ Choice and will be received at the funeral home
