Frederick H. “Fred” Olliges, 78, of Breese, died Monday, August 13, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Olliges was born July 24, 1934 in Germantown to Alphons and Margaret (Sauer) Olliges Sr.; they preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Lucas Frederick Johnson; a brother, Edward Olliges; a sister, Martha Eversgerd; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim Eversgerd, Tom Lane, Clara and Ted Elling, Clem Lauberth, Viola and Kenneth Stine, Edgar and Alice Koerkenmeier, Leona and Jack Boien, Victor Koerkenmeier, Arnold Koerkenmeier, Joseph Koerkenmeier
He married Anna Koerkenmeier on September 12, 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Trenton; she survives in Breese.
Also surviving are his children, Thomas (friend Mischelle Marcks) Olliges of Breese, Larry (Barb) Olliges of Naperville, Rose Ann (Ron) Blumenstein of Breese, James (Sue) Olliges of Aviston, Mark (Joyce) Olliges of Aviston, Darlene (Dale) Ratermann of Breese, and Kristi (Marty) Johnson of Breese;
17 grandchildren, Blake (Jennifer) Olliges, Rance (Hana) Olliges, Ryan and Jill Olliges, Laura Segelhorst, Angie (Dr. Todd) Schultz, Kory (Megan) Blumenstein, Nicole and Nathan Olliges, Jessica and Madison Olliges, Colin, Evan, and Jenna Ratermann, Logan, Kyler, and Emma Johnson; and 10 great-grandchildren;
sisters, Mary (Arnold) Schmeink of Carlyle and Doris Lane of Breese; a brother, Alphonse (Mary Ann) Olliges Jr. of St. Morgan.
sisters-in-law, Rosemary Olliges of Germantown, Rose Lauberth of Napa, CA, Cletus (Cathy) Koerkenmeier of Highland, Thelma Shrader of Aviston, Joann Koerkenmeier of Trenton, Pat Koerkenmeier of Trenton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fred retired from Wilke Truck service and ABF – Arkansas Best Freight, Bus Driver for Community Link and Breese Nursing Home and was the former custodian of the St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese and was a United States Army Veteran.
He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese, Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869 where he served as a Squire Leader and 4th Degree Bishop Althoff Assembly, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, and was a retired member of the Breese Fire Department after 28 years of service.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter officiating. Interment will follow in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 4:00-9:00 PM and again on Friday, August 17, 2012 from 8:00 to 10:15 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
Memorials can be made to St. Dominic Church, Hospice of Southern Illinois, St. Joseph Hospital Lights for Scholarships and Community Link and will be received at the funeral home.
Breese Fire department members will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 6:30 for a service, Breese Knights of Columbus at 7:00, Bishop Althoff 4th Degree services at 7:30
