Kathleen G. “Kat” Gress, age 71, of Beaver Prairie, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022 at Aviston Countryside Manor.

She was born November 17, 1950 in Highland, a daughter of the late John and Catherine, nee Wolters, Gress.

Kat is survived by her siblings, George (Sue) Gress of Highland, Mary A. Gress of Centralia, and Liz Fisher of Paducah, KY; nephews and nieces, David (Amanda) Gress, Randy Gress, Darren (Christi) Gress, Michael Gress, John (Alison) Fisher, and Allan (Kay) Fisher; and many great-nephews and great-nieces.

Mrs. Gress received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Eastern Illinois University.  She taught at Bartelso Elementary School, retiring after 37 years.  Mrs. Gress was always dedicated to her students and wanted to provide them with the best education as possible. In addition to teaching, she enjoyed living in the country where she raised cattle and chickens.

Kat was a member of St. Felicitas Catholic Church in Beaver Prairie where she was very involved in the PSR Program.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Felicitas Catholic Church in Beaver Prairie with Fr. Tom Killeen presiding.  Interment will follow at St. Felicitas Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 4:00-7:30 p.m. and again on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 8:00-9:15 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.  The Rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Jared Burke Foundation, St. Felicitas Cemetery, or St. Felicitas PSR Program and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th, Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family
