Bella V. Brefeld, age 16, of Breese, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022 at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born December 4, 2005 in St. Louis, a daughter of Chris and Lindsay, nee Heinzmann, Brefeld.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Luke Brefeld of Breese; grandparents, Brad and Kathleen, nee Bemis, Heinzmann of Breese, Joan, nee Schneeberger, Brefeld of New Baden, and James (Michelle) Brefeld, Sr. of Trenton; uncles and aunts, Ryan (Emily) Heinzmann of Breese, James (Tina) Brefeld, Jr. of Wayzata, MN, and Bob Brefeld of Belleville; cousins, Olivia, Jake, and Claire Heinzmann and AJ, Peyton, and Dylan Brefeld.
Bella was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Al and Millie Winter, Lester and Mary Heinzmann, Robert and Louise Schneeberger, and Bernard and Dolly Brefeld.
Bella was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese and the Mater Dei Catholic High School Class of 2024. She enjoyed playing softball, volleyball, working out at the gym, and she had a close circle of friends whom she loved spending time with. Her happy place was always at the beach and she had a love for little kids and babysitting.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Steven Beatty presiding. Interment will follow at St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Mater Dei Catholic High School and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
