Anita M. Berner, age 88, of Highland, died Thursday, June 21, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon.
Mrs. Berner was born January 29, 1930 in Carlyle, a daughter of the late Charles and Mabel, nee Carman, Tune.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, John Wesley Barker and Robert Berner; sister, Beverly “Pep” Von Hatten and husband John; and a brother, Claude Tune.
Surviving are her husband Roland Johnson of Highland whom she married July 29, 2009; daughter, Vickie (Jack) Eddinger of O’Fallon; grandchild, Patrick (Karen) Hosokawa of Denver, CO; step-grandchildren, Scott (Audrey) Eddinger of Sonoma, CA and Mark (Kacey) Eddinger of New Hampshire; great-granddaughter, Maya Hosokawa; brother, Charles “Squeak” (Pat) Tune of Aviston; a sister-in-law, Mary Tune of Swansea; and many nieces and nephews.
Anita was of the Catholic faith and a homemaker. Mrs. Berner grew up in Germantown and later moved to California, living most of her life in many areas throughout the state. She loved her dogs Beau and Belle, flowers, was a wonderful decorator, enjoyed shopping (especially nice clothing and shoes), and always looked her best anywhere she went.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 25, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Chuck Tuttle presiding.
Visitation will be Monday, June 25, 2018 from 3:00-4:45 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese.
Memorials may be made to the Clinton County Humane Society and will be received at the Church or through Moss Funeral Home in Breese who is serving the family.
