Beatrice A. “Bea” Grapperhaus, nee Huelsmann, 88, of Breese, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at Carlyle Health Care Center.
Mrs. Grapperhaus was born March 9, 1924 in St. Rose to Anton and Rose (Schrage) Huelsmann; they preceded her in death.
She married Herman Grapperhaus on June 6, 1949 at St. Rose Church and he preceded her in death April 2, 2003.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Alphonse Huelsmann; sisters, Loretta Jenkins and Leona Huelsmann; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wilbert Thole, Virgil Jenkins, Irma Huelsmann, Joseph and Christine Grapperhaus, Lawrence and Marcella Grapperhaus, Alvin and Marie Grapperhaus, Fred and Gertrude Rakers, Anna Grapperhaus, and Theodore and Mary Goestenkors.
Surviving are her children, Duane (Carol) Grapperhaus, David (Diane) Grapperhaus, Donna (Stephan) Lancey all of Breese; 6 grandchildren, Karen (Joshua) Shubert and Kevin (Angie) Grapperhaus, Jeff and Lisa Grapperhaus, and Amanda and Jonathan Lancey; a great-granddaughter, Ava Shubert; a sister, Johanna Thole of Highland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bea was a homemaker and Organist at St. Dominic Catholic Church for 44 years. She was a member of St. Dominic Church and Altar Sodality, Breese American Legion Post 252 Auxiliary, Breese Historical Society and Belleville Diocese Chorale.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Fr. Patrick Peter officiating. Interment will follow in St. Dominic~St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 9:00 to 10:30AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
Memorials can be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church, Friends of St. Joseph Hospital, or to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
The Breese American Legion Auxiliary will hold services at 7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
