Bernard C. “Ben” Brueggemann, Jr., age 88 of Bartelso, born January 17, 1928 in Bartelso, a son of the late Louise, nee Wegman, and Bernard Brueggemann, Sr., died October 21, 2016 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Marie, nee Kamler, Lanter, whom he married September 15, 1962 in Bensville, and she died October 19, 1975; his step-son, Jeffory Morrison; brothers, Al Brueggemann and Joe Brueggemann; sisters, Mary Rita Hilmes, Mary Lou Bowman, and Clara Athmer; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Henry Hilmes, Joseph Athmer, Raymond Becker, Rosemary and Bill Fornelli, Viola and Bill Fauke, Evelyn and Greg Dulle, and Virgil Becker.
Surviving is his wife, Georgetta “Honey”, nee Becker, Morrison-Brueggemann of Bartelso, whom he married November 25, 1977 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Marydale; a step-daughter, Mary Kay (Marvin) Kampwerth of Carlyle; a step-daughter-in-law, Marilyn Morrison of San Antonio, TX; 9 grandchildren, Adam (Clare) Morrison, Erica Morrison, Gage (Andrea) Morrison, Meghan Morrison, Dayle (Adam) Mathis, Amanda Morrison, Anita (Jason) Herzing, Derek (Camie) Kampwerth, and Laura Kampwerth; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Betty Brueggemann of Breese, Blanche Brueggemann of Bartelso, and Leora Becker of Breese.
Ben was a Veteran of the United States Army, retired as a carpenter from Dulle Construction in Albers, and was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and the Bartelso American Legion.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso with Fr. James Buerster presiding. Interment will follow in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Bartelso.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the church or through Moss Funeral Home in Germantown who is in charge of the arrangements.
