    Bernice E. Duncan, age 99, of Highland, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 at Cedarhurst of Breese.

     

    She was born December 16, 1923 in Breese, a daughter of the late Harry and Helen, nee Vogelsang, Buller.  She married Earl W. Duncan on July 31, 1943 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese and he preceded her in death on September 6, 2016.

     

    In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Baker; and siblings, August (Marcie) Buller, Virgil (Dorothy) Buller, and Lennie (Bassie) Grimmer.

     

    Bernice is survived by her children, Suzanne Baker of Breese and David (Laurie) Duncan of Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren, Stephen Meissner, Lisa (John) Cosenza, Dina (Jeff) Brother, Christopher (Kim) Meissner, Steven Duncan, and Joseph Duncan; great-grandchildren, Alex Meissner, Faye Meissner, Aaron Cosenza, Abbey Cosenza, Zach (friend, Taylor) Meissner, and Logan (friend, Brittany) Meissner; great-great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Meissner; and nieces and nephews.

     

    Bernice formerly worked in food service at Highland Grade School and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland.  Her main occupation was being a loving wife and mother, and she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and decoupage.

     

    Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, April 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter presiding.  Interment will follow at St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese.

     

    Visitation will be Friday, April 28, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese.

     

    In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to DAV – Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org or St. Jude Children Research Hospital at www.stjude.org and will also be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
