Bruce R. Archer

Bruce R. Archer, age 61, of Beckemeyer, died Sunday, October 1, 2017.

Mr. Archer was born March 23, 1956 in Grand Island, NE to the late Richard and Dorothy, nee Fenton, Archer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Mary Ann Huelsmann.

He is survived by his wife Carol, nee Huelsmann, Archer of Beckemeyer, whom he married June 21, 1980 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese; a daughter, Jenny (Richard) Schulz of Beckemeyer; three grandchildren, Riley, Ava, and Logan Schulz; siblings, Susan (Gary) Clark of Trenton, Steve (Fran) Archer of Las Vegas, NV, and Laurie (David) Whipple of Breese; and nieces and nephews.

Bruce worked in maintenance at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland and was the co-founder of the Big Belly Boys BBQ Competition team which competed in and won several BBQ competitions around the area. He was a member of the Hollywood Heights Bassmasters, St. Louis BBQ Society, and the Sons of the American Legion Post 1227 in Beckemeyer.

He enjoyed treating the local kids at Christmastime, spending time with his grandchildren, but mostly hanging out with the guys and making BBQ right up until the end.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese with Deacon Linus Klostermann presiding. Interment will take place at a later date.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to his grandchildren’s education fund and will be received at the funeral home. (Checks may be made to Jenny Schulz)
