  • Full Obituary

Caroline M. Jansen, age 81, of Breese, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden.

She was born March 27, 1942 in Breese, a daughter of the late Delbert and Stella, nee Solis, Quitmeyer.  On June 30, 1962, she married Francis “Sez” Jansen at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Beckemeyer and he preceded her in death on April 20, 2013.

In addition to her parents and husband, Caroline was preceded in death by a grandson, Luke Woltering; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Aloys and Catherine, nee Wobbe, Jansen; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Al (Shirley) Jansen, Ralph (Barbara) Jansen, Mary Ann (Lavern) Rolfingsmeyer, and Brenda Jansen.

Caroline is survived by daughters, Beth Woltering of Breese and Susan (David) Draminski of Kewanee; grandchildren, Nick Woltering, John David (Lisa) Draminski, Erin (Jordan) Willits, Andrew Joseph (Margaret) Draminski, and Olivia (fiancé Cole Grosenheider) Draminski; great-grandchildren, Jayden Woltering and Sutton Jansen Willits; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James (Bernadette) Jansen of Trenton, Pete (Jane) Jansen, Rosie Jansen, and Ron Jansen all of Breese; and nieces and nephews.

Caroline's life journey was one of selflessness and compassion. She owned and operated a beauty shop from her home in Breese, where she brought beauty and connection to her community. Later, she dedicated 20 years of her life as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Carlyle Healthcare Center, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those she cared for.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was an active member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese, where she served as a eucharistic minister and lector. Caroline was also an active member of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary and a former member and past president of Mater Dei Mothers and Friends.

Beyond her commitments, Caroline found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She shared laughter and camaraderie with her card club companions for over five decades, skillfully embroidered quilt blocks, immersed herself in the world of literature, and lovingly tended to her flower garden, which boasted her beloved blue hydrangeas. Her most cherished moments were spent in the company of her family, creating memories that will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

Memorial Mass will be Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter presiding.  Interment will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 8:30-10:45 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Residential Hospice or Breese Fire Department and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
