      Carolyn Helen Katchmar MSW, BCD, CAP, age 82, passed away from many complications including dementia and asthma after a very productive, charitable, self giving, enthusiastic, life. Born Feb 10, 1939 in Trenton, IL to John and Cerelda Buehler. By her first marriage to Dennis Mahony they had three children John, Daniel and Kelly Mahony, three grand children Jacob, Erika and Annika Ingersol.

       

      Within six months following the tragic death of her husband Dennis, Carolyn obtained a scholarship from Southern Illinois University graduating Magna Cum Laude. With another scholarship from St. Louis University three years later graduating with the National Institute of Mental Health award. In 2000 Carolyn received a MA degree in Pastoral Theology from Barry University.

       

      Carolyn met Dr. Jerome Katchmar and a year later they were married, June 10th, 1978. This was a perfect marriage of 42 years.

       

      Carolyn's church activities include; Eucharistic Minister and lector. Instituted the following groups: Grief support- Coping skills- new beginnings also the bereavement ministry which she and her husband Dr. Jerry maintained for 25 years. This ministry continues today.

       

      Carolyn's Marco Island civic accomplishments include; First female President of the Rotary Club 2002-2003; Awarded the Volunteer of the year award 2005; Crisis intervention guidance counselor at the Charter Middle School; Chaplain at NCH hospital mainly in the Intensive Care Unit and many other volunteer positions. She also held a private pilots license.

       

      Carolyn was a very beautiful, patient, loving, caring, self giving person enough cannot be said about her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

       

      Funeral Mass San Marco Catholic Church April 10, 2021 at 10:30 AM also a second Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Trenton, IL on May 1, 2021 at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow.
