  • Full Obituary

Catherine B. "Katie" (Frohn) Albers, 101, of Germantown, born May 13, 1911 in St. Rose, IL returned to the light of God on March 27, 2013 to begin yet another chapter, her eternal life.

She was the youngest of seven children born to Theodore and Mary (Wilke) Frohn. She learned the early value of hard work as she grew up on the farm and when she went to work at 13 to support herself and her widowed mother.

On August 11, 1937 she married Herman J Albers and they began a new chapter in her life in Germantown where they began their family. She raised eleven children to adulthood with love and her faith in God, Marian Eversgerd of Damiansville, Alice Eversgerd of Germantown, Ronald Albers of Posey, Harold "Yogi" (Ruth) Albers of Germantown, Richard (Judy) Albers of Albers, Irene Kahrhoff of Breese, Florence "Suz" (David) Broeckling of Albers, Herman (Karyn) Albers of Red Bud, Jeanette (Edward) Broeckling of Albers, Jerry (Marian) Albers of Albers, and Gary Albers of Carterville.

Her extraordinary life of 101 years was a life of hard work and compassion. Katie was a living example of the reward and satisfaction of doing a job to the best of your ability. She was a patient and true friend to everyone she met, but most of all she was a loving and generous mom. From this love and legacy came 38 grandchildren and the love continues to grow with 52 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman on December 10, 1961; sons, Robert Albers and Gerald Albers; a granddaughter, Kim Broeckling; great-grandsons, Nathan and Conner Fischer; brothers, Henry Frohn, Bernard Frohn, Gerard Frohn, and Theodore Frohn; sisters, Josephine Gebke and Caroline Mueller; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Elizabeth (Budde) Albers; daughters-in-law, Mary Jane Albers and Beverly Albers; and sons-in-law, Franklin Eversgerd and Leroy Eversgerd.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster, Deacon Rich Bagby, and Deacon Glen Netemeyer officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Germantown, IL.

Visitation will be Monday, April 1, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 8:00-9:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.

Memorials can be made to Heartland Hospice, Breese Nursing Home Activity Fund, or to the donor's choice and will be received at the funeral home.
