Cecilia C. Wiegmann, age 87, of St. Rose, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at Carlyle Healthcare Center. She was born September 26, 1937, in Highland, a daughter of the late Henry and Regina, nee Grapperhaus, Buehne. Cele married Herbert “Herb” Wiegmann on June 5, 1957, at St. Rose Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on January 8, 1994.
In addition to her parents and husband, Cele was preceded in death by a son, David Wiegmann; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Margaret, nee Kalmer, Wiegmann; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert Wiegmann, Valeria (Bert) Korte, Verena (William) Schrage, Edmund (Agnes “Pat”) Wiegmann, Irene (Alvis) Thole, and Tony (Mary Louise) Bauman.
Cele is survived by her sons, Duane (Joyce) Wiegmann of Keyesport, Ron (Lisa) Wiegmann of Breese, Mike (Angie) Wiegmann of Breese, Maurice (Sharon) Wiegmann of Odin, Gary (Sherry) Wiegmann of St. Rose, and Jim (Mary Kay) Wiegmann of Breese; grandchildren, Alicia (Justin) Henkel, Travis (Ashley) Wiegmann, Katelin (Jim) Schulte, David Wiegmann, Ryan (Jessica) Wiegmann, Alison (Justin) Schmidt, Kristen (Alex) Toennies, Craig (Chelsie) Wiegmann, Luke (Rebekah) Wiegmann, Lexis Wiegmann, Ben (Shaye) Wiegmann, Mitchell (Rachel) Wiegmann, and Emily Wiegmann; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Joan Wiegmann of New Baden and Bernard (Helen) Wiegmann of Sheridan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cele dedicated many years working alongside her husband on the family farm. After retiring from farming, she worked as a dietician at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and Altar Sodality, St. Rose Development Club, the Clinton County Farm Bureau, and the Senior Citizens Card Club. She found joy in quilting and sewing, making clothes for her boys in their younger years, and above all, she loved caring for her family.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose with Fr. Ed Schaefer presiding. Interment will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 16, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again Monday, February 17, 2025, from 8:00 – 9:15 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Rose Parish or St. Rose Development Club and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
