Cherry was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, John and Edna Mae (nee Campbell) Williams and Lee and Letha (nee O’Neill) Johnston.

A proud 1965 graduate of Wesclin High School, Cherry went on to earn her degree from Eastern Illinois University. She dedicated her career to education, teaching English and French at Central Community High School in Breese before retiring in 2003. Known for her kindness and warmth, Cherry left a lasting impression on her students and colleagues alike.

Cherry was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in O’Fallon. She cherished travel, especially cruises, and delighted in exploring the world through its cuisines. Cherry was well known for her quick wit and playful sense of humor, always ready with a joke or a lighthearted prank.
