Christine Lynn “Chris” Netemeyer (nee Toennies) age 54, of Damiansville passed away Friday, January 24, 2025, at SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital. She was born December 23, 1970, in Breese, a daughter of Darlene Toennies (nee Wegmann) of Damiansville and the late Thomas Toennies.
In addition to her mother, Chris is survived by her husband, Allen Netemeyer, of Damiansville, whom she married January 7, 1995, at St. Damian Catholic Church; children, Nathan (Amber) Toennies of Payneville, KY, Jayson Netemeyer of Albers, Kaylee Netemeyer of Albers, and Gavin Netemeyer of Damiansville; grandchildren, Arik, Dean, Ilona, and Autumn Toennies; siblings, Bob (Tammy) Toennies and TJ (Amber) Toennies, both of Damiansville; step-father, Rich Toennies of Damiansville; mother-in-law, Monica Netemeyer of Germantown; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ken (Lisa) Netemeyer, Glen Netemeyer, Keith (Lisa) Netemeyer, all of Germantown, Denise (Jim) Schmitt of Rubicon, WI, Karl Netemeyer of Germantown, and Carol (Justin) Penrod of Ludlow; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, Chris was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Toennies; father-in-law, Cletus Netemeyer; and niece, Josie Walker.
Chris dedicated many years as a cashier, working at Kokomo Joe’s, now Moto Mart, in New Baden. She was a member of St. Damian Catholic Church and a former member of the Damiansville Chamber of Commerce. Chris had a warm and loving spirit, and her greatest joy was spending time with her friends and family.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville with Fr. Matthew Elie presiding and Deacon Glenn Netemeyer and Deacon Kevin Templin assisting. Interment will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be Friday, February 7, 2025, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to the wishes of the family (checks payable to Nathan Toennies) and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
