Chuck H. Smelser

Chuck H. Smelser, age 61, of Trenton, died Saturday, October 27, 2018 at his home.

He was born January 6, 1957 in Lake Charles, LA to the late Charles and Peggy, nee Melanson, Smelser.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Smelser.

Surviving are his wife Susan Kaveny of Trenton, whom he married in July of 2014 at a tractor pull in Summerfield by Elvis tribute man, Jeff Caldwell; children, Craig (friend Leslie) Smelser of Caseyville, Eric (Kyle) Smelser of St. Louis, and Christine (friend Jeremy) Cummins of Florida; grandchild, Ethan Smelser; and a sister, Donna (John) Scheib of Caseyville.

Chuck formerly worked as a courier driver for Jack Hood Transportation. He enjoyed stock car racing, but his greatest passion was barbequing.

Celebration of Life visitation, where friends are encouraged to share their favorite memories of Chuck with everyone, will be Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

Memorials may be made to Siteman Cancer Center and will be received at the funeral home.
