    Clara C. Rakers, nee Fuhler, age 94 of Breese, born April 30, 1922 in St. Rose, a daughter of the late Bernard “Ben” and Rose, nee Haar, Fuhler, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Legacy Place in Breese.

    In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John A. Rakers, whom she married November 9, 1944 at St. Rose Catholic Church and he died May 3, 1985; a son, Michael Rakers; brothers, Theodore Fuhler, Bernard Fuhler, and John Fuhler; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Theresia, nee Wilke, Rakers; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bertha Fuhler, Sally Fuhler, Cletus Fuehne, Dorothy and Robert Kalmer, Henrietta Mondt-Septeowski, Joe Mondt, Al Septeowski, Alvina and Al Feldmann, and Edward Rakers.

    Surviving are her children, Harry (Cheri) Rakers of Champaign, Judy (Joe) Husmann of Breese, Stan (Diane) Rakers of Aviston, Norb (Debbie) Rakers of Frogtown, Ron (Dana) Rakers of Highland, Ralph (Nancy) Rakers of Carlyle, John (Mary Ann) Rakers of Breese, and Mary (John) Scott of Breese; 20 grandchildren Brent Rakers, Chad Rakers, Becky Emig, Angie Kinney, Alicia Uhring, Aaron Rakers, Nick Rakers, Jeremy Rakers, Josh Rakers, Jake Rakers, Zach Rakers, Rachel Simmons, Jared Rakers, Adam Rakers, Amanda Antonacci, Katrina Rakers, Lindsey Rakers, Danielle Bergmann, Breanne Scott, Mike Scott and 23 great-grandchildren; siblings, Victor Fuhler of Trenton, Agnes (Wilbert) Huelsmann of Breese, and Helen (Stan) Timmermann of Breese; sisters-in-law, Jane Fuhler of St. Rose and Rita “Butch” Fuehne of Damiansville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Mrs. Rakers was a homemaker and a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and Altar Sodality and Resurrection Choir in Breese, Daughters of Isabella Precious Blood Circle 718, St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, Breese. Clara enjoyed playing cards and quilting, but most of all spending time with her family.

    Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter presiding. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Aviston.

    Visitation will be Friday, April 21, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 8:30-10:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

    Memorials may be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church or to St. Francis Cemetery and will be received at the funeral home.

    The Daughters of Isabella will hold services at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
