Clarence S. “Civ” Orschell Jr. 84 of Trenton died Wednesday March 7, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.
He was born April 19, 1927 in Trenton to Clarence S. Orschell Sr. and Floy (Henson) Orschell: they preceded him in death.
He married Helen Vahlkamp February 4, 1953 at St. Anthony Church in Beckemeyer; she preceded him in death August 15, 1976.
He then married Jan Bellm-Hegger October 21, 1977in Trenton and she preceded him in death November 23, 2005.
Also preceded in death b y a sister Wilma Kerkenmeyer, Lois Jean Gruenenfelder, sister-in-law Lorraine Gonzalez, brothers-in-law Don Gruenenfelde, Jack Gonzalez..
Surviving are his sons Jim (Ruth) Orschell of Trenton, Tom (friend Sandy Summer) Orschell of Trenton
2 grandchildren Logan and Emily Orschell.
A sister Virginia (George) Johnson of Belleville.
Brothers-in-law Anthony “Blackie” Kerkenmeyer of Belleville, Bernard Vahlkamp of Fairview Heights.
His special friend Carol Blankenship of Keyesport and her sons Brad Blankenship of Salem, Randy Blankenship of Keyesport, Greg (Tyra) Blankenship of Mt Pleasant, TX., David (Sue) Blankenship of Keyesport, John (Christina) Blankenship of Keyesport, Dan (Deb) Blankenship, of Teutopolis
Civ was retired from Small arms and Armory in St. Louis, MO, a fireman at Scott Air Force Base and past owner of Trenton Cleaner and Laundry, and a shuttle driver for Eckerts in Belleville.
Member of St. Mary Church, Trenton Knights of Columbus Council 2932 in Trenton, American Legion Post 778 in Trenton, VFW Post 7983 in Trenton, Trenton volunteer fireman for 28 years and Fire Department trustee for 6 years. Civ enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and gardening.
Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday March 10 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton with Fr. Joseph Rascher officiating. Interment St. Mary Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday March 9 from 4 to 8 PM and Saturday March 10 from 9 to 9:45 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton
Memorials can be made to Trenton Volunteer Fire department of Mater Dei High School and will be received at the funeral home.
Knights of Columbus members will have services 7:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.
