Colleen A. Lawhead, nee Ashbaker, age 61 of Breese, born February 14, 1956 in Quincy, IL, died Monday, March 6, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.

Surviving is her mother, M. Rosemary, nee Dittmer, Ashbaker of O’Fallon; her husband, David Lawhead of Breese, whom she married May 5, 1978 in Champaign; her daughters, Christina (Eric) Detmer of Breese and Ashlie (Jessica) Zwilling of Olney; 4 grandchildren, Alexander, Logan, Ella, and Dawson Detmer; siblings, Cathi (friend Tom) Teel and Daniel (Tara) Ashbaker all of O’Fallon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Raymond (Kathleen) Lawhead of Paris, KY, Gerald (Jean) Lawhead of Dietrich, Kenneth (Ann) Lawhead of Hazel Dell, Donald (Terrie) Lawhead of Belleville, Paul (Marsha) Lawhead of Teutopolis, Cathy Lawhead of Robinson, and Kathy Lawhead of Effingham.

Mrs. Lawhead was preceded in death by her father, Charles “Chuck” Ashbaker; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mack and Ruth Lawhead; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Cecil (Darlene) Kendall, Gary Lawhead, Irilla (John) Hoover, Florence (Fred) Wall, Imogene (Perry) Murphy, and Clarence (Joyce) Lawhead.

Colleen worked as a dental hygienist for 20 years and 15 years with Millennium Information Services. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese, Chatham Jaycees, former president of the Chatham Women of Today, taught PSR at St. Dominic Church, and was the basket raffle chairwoman for the St. Dominic picnic. She was a devoted grandmother, was the biggest fan of her girls, enjoyed baking cakes and swimming in her pool, and loved all of her dogs.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter and Deacon Linus Klostermann presiding. Interment will follow in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese.

Visitation will be Friday, March 10, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 8:00-9:30 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the wishes of the family and will be received at the funeral home.
