    Dale J. Sandelin, age 76, of St. Rose, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

     

    He was born April 5, 1947 in Oak Park, IL, a son of the late Norman and Maureen, nee Schlenker, Sandelin.

     

    Dale is survived by his wife, Linda (Woltering-Koch) Sandelin, Woltering, of St. Rose, whom he married October 10, 1998 in Marion, IL; children, Cheri Flager and Curtis Sandelin, both of Alta Loma, CA, Timothy (Torie) Koch of St. Rose, and Victoria (Glenn Frerker) Koch-Frerker of Addieville; grandchildren, Brent Chima, Alexis Flager, Allyssa Koch, Emma Koch, Jonathan Koch, Jaelyn Frerker, and Allyson Frerker; brother, Wayne (Barbara) Sandelin of Las Vegas, NV; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Karen Aughenbaugh of Franklin, IN, Brenda (Ken) Wellen of Albers, Sandy (Lyle) Johnson of Breese, and Eric (Sandra) Woltering of Farmington, MO; and nieces and nephews.

     

    In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Sandelin and brother-in-law, Kevin Woltering.

     

    Dale was a veteran of the United States Navy.  He studied at Western Illinois University in Animal Science and Law Enforcement Administration.  He went on to work for the Illinois State Police and retired as a Sergeant and also worked with the Department of Homeland Security FEMA.  Dale was a member of Pleiades Masonic Lodge #478 in Westchester, Quincy Consistory, Ansar Shriners in Springfield, Fraternal Order of Police Troopers Lodge 41, Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 269, and Breese American Legion Post 252.  Dale enjoyed fishing, traveling, yard work, but above all, spending time with his children and grandchildren.

     

    Funeral Services will be Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese with Deacon Linus Klostermann officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese.

     

    Visitation will be Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

     

    In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals at www.lovetotherescue.org or Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 269 and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
