Daryle E. Starkey, CPO United States Navy, Ret., 49, of Breese, died Friday, February 3, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mr. Starkey was born December 19, 1962 in Quincy, IL to David and Marilyn (Birchfield) Starkey; his mother preceded him in death and his father survives in Stoy, IL.
He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leslie and Arcena Starkey; maternal grandparents, Oscar and Gladys Birchfield; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Helen “Carlene” Detrick; and a sister-in-law, Donna Lotz.
He married Carol Detrick on March 12, 1983 in Rushville, IL; she survives in Breese.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children, Matthew Starkey of Centralia and Brian Starkey of Breese; sisters, DaVida (Ivan Jr.) Wear of Quincy, IL and Keela DeJaynes of Jacksonville, IL; a brother, Keith Starkey; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dale (Janet) Detrick of Rushville, IL, Rick (Janis) Detrick of Macomb, IL, and Bill Lotz of Jacksonville, IL; an uncle and aunt, Bill and Mary Birchfield of Quincy, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Daryle retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the United States Navy and was currently working as an Electronic Engineer for the Eaton Corporation in Fenton, MO.
He attended the Salem Assembly of God, Salem, IL.
Funeral Services will be Monday, February 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Salem Assembly of God, Salem IL with Rev. Rick Stratton and Rev. Gary Wilson officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 12:00 PM at Rushville City Cemetery, Rushville, IL.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 5, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 PM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese and again on Monday, February, 6, 2012 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Salem Assembly of God, Salem, IL.
Memorials can be made to the family or to the Latin American Child Care and will be received at the funeral home and church.
