      Delbert Carl Holman, age 87, of Lebanon, IL died on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at home.

       

      He was born on January 15, 1934 to Harry and Pearle (Anderson) Holman in Kewanee, Illinois.  He married Joanne Stahl of Wyoming, IL on August 2, 1959 and she survives.  They had two children, Lynda (deceased) of Champaign, Illinois and Carl (Lori) of Lebanon, Illinois.

       

      Del graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1952 and Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois in 1956 with an Industrial Arts major.  His first teaching job was at Manlius High School in 1956.  In 1957 he joined the Kewanee National Guard and remained a member until 1963.  He taught Industrial Arts at Galva High School until 1966 at which time he resigned to be manager of Stahl Lumber Company, Bradford, Illinois until its closing.  Later he worked at Ehnle Electric.

       

      While living in Bradford, Del was an active member of the Leet Memorial Methodist Church and served on several committees.  Later he became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lebanon.  He joined the Lion’s Club in Galva and continued as a member at Bradford for several years.   He also served as a Trustee of the Bradford Fire District for 47 years, resigning from that position in 2016 when he moved from the district.  He also served as radio dispatcher for the Bradford Rescue Squad.

       

      Del enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards, puzzles and puzzle books, along with spending time with his family.  He was a generous and helpful man and he loved their family pets.  He was not one to get angry and always encouraged and found the good in others.  Most of all, he was a gentle, humble and loving man.

       

      Surviving are his wife, Joanne, son Carl and wife Lori, brothers-in-law Jim (Evie) Stahl, Melvin (Corinne) Stahl and Mike (Pat) Stahl and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his daughter Lynda, parents Harry and Pearle Holman, a brother Eugene and two sisters Lois (Vernon) Hansen and Shirley (Herb) Pierson.

       

      Celebration of Life service will be virtual at 1 p.m. on January 7, 2022 with private graveside services.
