    Dennis C. Stevenson, age 84, of Breese, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born July 28, 1939 in Pierron, a son of the late Charles and Esther, nee Gruenenfelder, Stevenson.

     

    Dennis married Kathryn “Kate” Stevenson, nee Nave, on February 6, 1965, in Carlyle, and she survives in Breese. In addition to his wife, Dennis is survived by his siblings, Kenny (Janice) Stevenson of Pocahontas, Charlotte Liening of Jamestown, Charlene (John) Grapperhaus of Highland, Charles Stevenson of Breese, Sandy (Richard) Peters of Germantown, and Jane (Mike) Koehler of Beckemeyer; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie Stevenson of Breese and Vernon (Debbie) Nave of Carlyle; and nieces and nephews.

     

    Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Stevenson; sister, Betty Lou Clymens; and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, James Liening, Tom Katusich, and Peggy Stevenson.

     

    Dennis was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He dedicated 50 years of his career to Basler Electric, where he worked as a painter. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Breese and was actively involved with the Jamestown Coonhunters. Dennis was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing, hunting, trapping, and exploring nature. He also enjoyed gardening, working on lawn mowers, and tinkering in his spare time.

     

    Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese with Pastor Christy Smith officiating. Interment will take place at Ellwood Cemetery at a later date.

     

    Visitation will be Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

     

    In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to the wishes of the family (checks payable to Kathryn Stevenson) and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
