Dennis A. “Denny” Loepker, age 88, of Germantown, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023 at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 9, 1935 in Bartelso, a son of the late Herman and Mary, nee Linnemann, Loepker.
In addition to his parents, Denny was preceded in death by his brothers, Wendell Loepker and Robert Loepker; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Pauline, nee Kniepmann, Robke; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry Deerhake, Dolores (Frank) Ortmann, and Emmy (Jerome “Muscles”) Albers.
Denny is survived by his wife, Mary Jane “Mutz”, nee Robke, Loepker, of Germantown, whom he married September 15, 1959 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown; children, Kathy (Bruce) Dierkes, Sharon (Dean) Winter, and Keith Loepker, all of Germantown; grandchildren, Lauren (Brad) Essenpreis, Brett (Ariel) Dierkes, Abbey Winter, and Austin Winter; great-grandchildren, Brynlee and Ava Essenpreis and Ames Dierkes; siblings, Florence (Ralph) Lampe of Aviston, Eugene (Gerty) Loepker of Germantown, and Betty Deerhake of Germantown; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Lue Loepker of Breese, Jeanette Loepker of Bartelso, and Bob (Barb) Robke of Germantown, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Denny was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1957-1959, and later retired in 1995 as the manager of Wickes Lumber in Breese. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown where he was a Eucharistic Minister, Server, and former Parish Council member. He was also a member of the Germantown American Legion Post 325, Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869, Germantown Kernel Nut Club, and Mater Dei Fathers & Friends. Denny enjoyed woodworking, golfing, fishing, hunting, playing cards, dancing, and following his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster presiding. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery in Germantown with full military honors accorded.
Visitation will be Friday, February 3, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church or Mater Dei Catholic High School and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, P.O. Box 117 Germantown, IL 62245, who is serving the family.
