Donald L. “Diesel” Becker, age 81, of Bartelso, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2020 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

 

He was born July 1, 1939 in Bartelso, the son of the late Henry and Cecilia, nee Jansen, Becker.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Raymond (Sylvia) Becker, Flo (Paul) Dierkes, Albert “Tossie” (Mary Ann) Becker, Mary Ann (Andy) Rakers, Herman Becker, Bill Becker, Bob (Laura) Thien, and Johanna (Bill) Haar.

 

Surviving are siblings, Lucille (Frank) Kampwerth of Carlyle, Barb (Bob) Robke of Germantown, Richard “Dick” (Pat) Becker of Bartelso, and Toni (George) Litzenburg of Carlyle; a sister-in-law, Laura Thien of O’Fallon; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.

 

Diesel formerly worked as a laborer and carpenter, and later retired from Germantown Egg Co. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 4745 in Bartelso.

 

Funeral Services will be Friday, November 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster officiating. Interment will follow in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Bartelso.

 

Visitation will be Friday, November 6, 2020 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Germantown. (Masks are required at both the visitation and funeral service)

 

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Cecilia Catholic Church, St. Cecilia Cemetery, or the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
