Elmer H. Horstmann, 89, of Bartelso died Friday, October 19, 2012 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese.
He was born June 26, 1923 in Damiansville to Henry C. and Helen (Olliges) Horstmann: they preceded him in death.
He married Virginia Rolves June 24, 1961 at St. Bernard Church in Albers and she preceded him in death December 23, 1996.
Also preceded in death by brother Leander “Lindy” Horstmann, sisters Loretta Heimann, Nora Heimann, brothers-in-law Joseph Heimann, Louis Heimann, sister-in-law Helen Horstmann.
Surviving is a daughter Judy (fiancée Glenn “Beans” Hemker) Mueller of Bartelso.
2 grandchildren Ryan and Casey Mueller, and 3 future step-grandchildren, Phillip (Jessica) Hemker, Ryan (special friend Katelyn) Hemker, and Gayle Hemker; future step-great-granddaughter, Cecilia Hemker.
A brother Clarence “Clem” (friend Margaret Pollmann) Horstmann of Beckemeyer.
A sister Irene Horstmann of Damiansville.
A sister-in-law Florence Horstmann of Damiansville.
Elmer formerly owned and operated Bartelso Lumber Company in Bartelso and Hardware Center in Germantown. He was custodian of St. Cecilia Parish, a carpenter and farmhand.
Member of St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso, Men’s Sodality, Bartelso Knights of Columbus Council 4745, Bishop Althoff 4th Degree Assembly and past faithful navigator, Bartelso Young at Hearts Club, and past member of the Mater Dei High School Board and was a retired volunteer with Bartelso Fire Department
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday October 22 at 2:00 PM at St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso with Fr. Henry Fischer officiating. Interment St. Cecilia cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 21 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM and Monday October 22 from 11:00 am to 1:30 PM at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.
Memorials can be made to Mater Dei High School or St. Cecilia Church and will be received at the funeral home.
Bishop Althoff 4th degree services will be Sunday October 21 at 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
