Eugene R. “Gene” Howard

Celebration of Life Service at a later date

Eugene R. “Gene” Howard, age 79, of Breese, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

He was born February 12, 1942 in St. Louis, MO, a son of the late Edward and Reikie, nee Koeling, Howard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Maverick Howard; brother, James Howard; sister Lorraine Barton; and brothers-in-law, Bob Huelsmann and Franklin Barton.

Gene is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, nee Hilmes, Howard, of Breese, whom he married on August 17, 1963 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Beckemeyer; children, Reyne Vandever of Lima, OH, Eugene Howard, Jr. of Breese, Mark (Christi) Howard of Breese, Samantha Howard of Breese, and Keith Howard of Breese; twelve grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and his sister Kathleen Huelsmann of Breese.

Gene retired from Artex International after 43 years of service.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
