    George B. Kampwerth 70 of St. Rose died Thursday January 31, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville.

    He was born May 28, 1942 in Breese to George H. and Josephine (Wilke) Kampwerth: they preceded him in death.

    Also preceded in death by a sister Sr. Rita Kampwerth ASC, father and mother-in-law August and Rose (Hermeling) Wildhaber Sr., brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law William Alberternst, Wilbert “Butch” Jansen, Jerome Wildhaber, Alfred Wildhaber, Wayne Wildhaber, Lavern and Eleanor Wildhaber.

    He married Dorothy Wildhaber April 23, 1966 at St. Boniface Church in Germantown and she survives.

    Also surviving are his children George A. Kampwerth of Alhambra, Karl Kampwerth of Breese, Eric (Tammy Weber-Kampwerth) Kampwerth of St. Rose, Diane Kampwerth of Selma, TX, Vicky (Matthew) Gardner of San Antonio, TX.

    5 grandchildren Gracie, Grant, Georgia, Kelly and Kaitlyn Kampwerth.

    Sisters Emmy Kampwerth of St. Rose, Netty (Richard) Kapp of Fairview Heights, Sr. Georgia Kampwerth ASC of Belleville, Anna Alberternst of St. Rose, Jane Jansen of Breese.

    Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Donald (Erma) Wildhaber of CA, Elaine Hilmes of Carlyle, Marilyn Kitchen of Breese, August (Evy) Wildhaber Jr. of Bartelso, Norbert (Marcella) Wildhaber of Germantown.

    George retired from Alberternst Construction. He was a licensed Insurance agent since 1973 , president and chairman of the board of the Looking Glass Mutual Insurance since 2001, and board member since 1973. He was born and raised and lived his life on the family farm, George loved and cherished his grandchildren. He was A Veteran of the United States Army.

    Member of St. Rose Church and Men’s Sodality, St. Rose Development Club, life member of the American Legion post 252 in Breese, 50 year member of the Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869, Aviston Gun Club, life member of the NRA.

    Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be Monday February 4, 2013 at 2:00 PM at St. Rose Catholic Church with Fr. James Buerster officiating. Interment St. Rose Cemetery.

    Visitation will be Sunday February 3 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and Monday February 4 from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

    In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be received at the funeral home

    Breese American Legion member s will hold services Sunday February 3 at 4:00 PM followed by the Knights of Columbus service at 4:30 pm at the funeral home.
