    Gervase A. “Gerp” Henrichs, age 87, of St. Rose, died on August 26, 2023, at his home.

     

    Gervase was born October 18, 1935, in St. Rose, a son of the late Frank and Anna (nee Kruep) Henrichs.  He married Dolores Varel on June 1, 1960, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso and she survives in St. Rose.

     

    Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Dolores; children, Kenneth (Donna) Henrichs of St. Rose, Joyce (Greg Fernandez) Voss of Breese, and Mark (Wendy) Henrichs, of Iowa City, Iowa; grandchildren, Joshua Henrichs, Lauren (Greg) Litteken, Chelsey Henrichs, Mackenzie (Joe Guthrie) Henrichs, Jay (Jenny) Voss, Ryan (Sydne Rensing) Voss, Miles Henrichs, and Eli Henrichs; great-grandchildren, Jayden and Beckham Voss, Lainey Henrichs, Liam Guthrie, and baby Litteken due in November; siblings, Patricia Fuehne of Albers, Ruth Ann Rensing of New Douglas, and Jim (Carol) Henrichs of Highland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, Lorraine Henrichs of St. Rose, Louis Varel, Jane Deerhake, Jerry Varel, Don Varel, all of Bartelso, Bert Varel of St. Louis, Rita Ratermann, Marilyn (Charlie) Kruse, and Rosemary (Dennis) Richter, all of Breese; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane Von Bokel; brother Roger Henrichs; son-in-law, Charles Voss; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alois and Martha (nee Jansen) Varel; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Art Fuehne, Art Rensing, Ralph VonBokel, Jerry Ratermann, Tom Deerhake, Charlie and Lorraine VonderHaar, and Barb Varel.

     

    Gervase was a lifelong dairy farmer.  He was also a Purina Feed dealer.  He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, the St. Rose Men’s Sodality, St. Rose Development Club, Clinton County Farm Bureau, and the Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869, and served for many years as a volunteer fireman in St. Rose where he was Charter Member.  In addition to farming, over the years Gervase enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family, and his daily rosary.

     

    Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose with Fr. James Buerster presiding.  Interment will follow at St. Rose Cemetery.

     

    Visitation will be Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese and again Friday, September 1, 2023 from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose.

     

    In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Rose Catholic Church or St. Rose Fire Department and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
