Helen L. Valente

Helen L., nee Alfke, Valente, age 82, of Trenton, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at her home.

She was born October 11, 1937, in Indianapolis, IN, the daughter of the late Henry and Helen M., nee Geddes, Alfke.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Don Valente, whom she married November 25, 1985, and who died November 30, 2016; daughter Jodi Soini and her husband Freddie; son Bob Hopkins, Jr.; sisters, JoAnne Schakel and her husband Vernon and Mary Hayden and her husband Lawrence; and brothers, Bill Alfke and Hank Alfke.

Surviving are her children Doug Hopkins of Trenton, Lori Hopkins of Lompoc, CA, and Vince (Donna) Hopkins of Appleton, WI; daughter-in-law Donise Hopkins of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Heather (Andrew) Morgan, Jeff (Mandie) Hopkins, Kayla Soini, Amanda (John) Spanheimer, Tim (Ashley) Hopkins, Amy (Shannon) Konitzer, and Amanda (Kyle) Casey; and sister-in-law, Phoebe Alfke.

Helen previously served as a private duty nurse and was a member of Westgate Baptist Church.  She enjoyed painting, playing games, traveling, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and, most of all, spending time with her family.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 8, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 8, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton with Pastor Paul Hooks officiating.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Westgate Baptist Church and will be received through Moss Funeral Home, who is serving the family (105 South Main St. Trenton, IL, 62293).
