    Herb J. Hustedde, age 82, of Breese, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO surrounded by his family.

     

    He was born May 18, 1939 in Breese, son of the late Frank and Laura, nee Usselmann, Hustedde.

     

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Francis Hustedde, Bob Hustedde, and Joseph Hustedde; sisters, Monica (Charles) Boeckmann and Mary Ann (Hank) Peek; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Theodore and Agnes, nee Schrage, Henrichs; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Cornelius (Amanda) Henrichs, Mary Ann (Theodore) Tebbe, Sr. Rosemary Henrichs, ASC, Virgil (Ellie) Henrichs, and John (Martha) Henrichs.

     

    Herb is survived by his wife, Carol, nee Henrichs, Hustedde, of Breese, whom he married February 19, 1966 at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose; sons, Neil (Carol) of Breese, Kent (Shannon) of Breese, and Chad (Kelly) of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren, Sophie Hustedde, Jacob Hustedde, Parker and Ashton Hustedde; siblings, Rita (Maurice) Albers of Germantown, Rose (Francis) Rehkemper of Breese, Dorothy (Gerald) Showalter of O’Fallon, and Anthony “Butch” Hustedde of Breese; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cletus (Marie) Henrichs of St. Rose; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     

    Herb was President of Quad-County Ready Mix Corp and Clinton County Materials Corp.  He started working for the firm in 1955 and continued building the company to what it is today.  He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves and a member of the Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869, Breese Lions Club, St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery Board, and Illinois Ready Mix Concrete Association Board.  He enjoyed traveling and especially loved attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events.

     

    Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. William Hitpas and Fr. Patrick Peter concelebrating.  Interment will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

     

    Visitation will be Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again of Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

     

    The Breese Knights of Columbus will hold services at 6:30 and the Breese Lions Club will walk through at 6:45 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

     

    In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Mater Dei Catholic High School, All Saints Academy, or St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th, Breese, IL 62230.
