- Full Obituary
Herbert B. “Herb” Schlarmann, age 86, of Trenton, died peacefully on March 18, 2025, at Trenton Village. He was born September 30, 1938, in Breese, a son of the late Carl and Dorothy, nee Kuhl, Schlarmann. Herb married Jenny, nee Nivens, Schlarmann on March 17, 1995, and she preceded him in death on February 13, 1999.
In addition to his parents and wife, Herb was preceded in death by his step-son, Christopher Turnipseed; and siblings, Bernie Schlarmann, Kathleen “Kathy” Book, Charles “Chuck” Schlarman, Linda Essington and Joseph “Joe” Schlarmann.
Herb is survived by his step-daughter, Gayna (Greg) Jensen of O’Fallon, MO; granddaughter, Jordyn Jensen; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, James Book, Shirley Schlarman, and Nancy Schlarmann all of Breese; longtime friend, Rita Schlarmann of Trenton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Herb was a dedicated State Farm Agent for 46 years. As Mayor of Trenton for many years, Herb was deeply committed to the betterment of his community. His leadership helped shape the town into a welcoming and vibrant place for all its residents. He also served as the President of the Trenton Jaycees and was also a member of Trenton Knights of Columbus and Trenton Chamber of Commerce, where he inspired countless individuals to engage in community service and leadership.
An avid baseball fan, Herb found joy in the game and dedicated his time as the manager of the Clinton County baseball league. He loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals, sharing his passion for the sport with friends and family. His enthusiasm for baseball was matched only by his love for socializing; he never knew a stranger and had a remarkable ability to connect with people.
Herb had a fondness for a good scotch, often enjoying a glass while sharing stories and laughter with friends. His warm spirit and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
