Jean married Dr. Ralph A. Baer, DVM, on September 7, 1963, in Urbana and he preceded her in death on January 7, 2019. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by her sister, Sally (Dennis) Heckler and twin sister, Jane (Robert) Scott; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Helen (Dick) Deters, Marcella (Van) Vandeveer, Lester (Pat) Baer, Alvera “Bea” (Howard “Red”) Rutledge, Raymond (Betty) Baer, and Dick Baer

Jean worked alongside her husband at Baer Small Animal Clinic and also spent time employed at Jim’s Formal Wear. She was a faithful member of West Gate Baptist Church in Trenton.

Known for her generosity and warmth, Jean had a heart big enough to welcome anyone. She never met a stranger and was always eager to lend a helping hand. She found joy in quilting, sewing, and gardening. Above all, Jean treasured her family; her grandchildren were the center of her life, and her happiest moments were those spent in their company.
