Jeffrey L. Jackson, age 80, of Breese, and formerly of Trenton, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Evercare of Swansea. He was born July 3, 1944, in Tuscola, a son of the late Wilfred and Faye (nee Askins) Jackson.
In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Jackson (nee James) whom he married February 15, 2003, in Trenton and who died October 8, 2022.
Jeff is survived by his sons, Brian (Kelly) Jackson of Tuscola and Doug Jackson of Camargo. He dearly loved his granddaughter, Sydney Jackson of Sidney. He is also survived by his brother, David (Donna) Jackson of Champaign; sisters, Brenda (Bill) Wehrheim of Red Bud and Carol Gerdes of Vienna; and nieces, nephews, friends, and high school classmates.
While in high school, Jeff let Yvonne get away from him, only to be reunited at a class reunion many years later. They were both Class of 1962 at Villa Grove High School. Jeff was employed as a barber with his grandfather, at Jackson Barber Shop in Villa Grove, and later retired as a railroad engineer for Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of Trenton First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men’s Club. He manned the Hospitality Table for many years, greeting members and visitors alike with their favorite coffee at the door on Sunday mornings. Jeff always has a story to tell, sometimes twice; he took every opportunity to dress as Elvis and wow the ladies; and you would most likely find him on the golf course on a good sunny day.
A memorial service will be Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Trenton, IL with Pastor Rena Whitcher officiating. Graveside Services will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Camargo, IL at 2:00 p.m.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Trenton, IL.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Trenton and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 105 S. Main St. Trenton, IL 62293, who is serving the family.
