Jerome “Jerry” Straeter

Jerome A. “Jerry” Straeter, age 57 of St. Rose, born March 29, 1959 in Breese, a son of Marie, nee Jansen, Straeter and the late Lawrence “Larry” Straeter, died Monday, January 23, 2017.

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Margaret, nee Kloeckner, Jansen and his paternal grandparents, Frank and Elizabeth, nee Schrage, Straeter.

Jerry is survived by his mother Marie Straeter of St. Rose; brothers, Bill (Tammy) Straeter of St. Rose, Richard (Rose) Straeter of Mt. Vernon, Andrew (Coletta) Straeter of St. Rose, Joe Straeter of Evansville, IN, and Dan (friend Wanda Thompson) Straeter of St. Rose; and nephews and nieces, Curtis (Precious), Kelsey, Kirstie, Colby, Mark, Jeanette, Logan, Dane, Vance, Collin, Madison, Nathan and Ryan (Kayleigh) Straeter.

Jerry received his B.S. in Business Administration from SIU-Edwardsville and a B.S. in Psychology from McKendree University in Lebanon. He currently was the Assistant to the President at Highland Supply Co. Mr. Straeter enjoyed reading and writing, and recently completed writing a book, “Beyond the Bridge”.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church with Fr. James Buerster presiding. Interment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church.

Memorials may be made to Food for the Poor, Inc., and will be received at the church or through Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th, Breese, IL 62230 who is serving the family.
