Jerry L. “Butsy” Willmann, Sr. age 72, of New Baden, died Sunday, October 8, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.
Mr. Willmann was born February 17, 1945 in Highland, a son of the late Lester and Elda, nee Willie, Willmann.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Lester Willmann (infancy), Kenneth Willmann, Marilyn Willmann, Laurine Griesbaum, JoAnn Crain, and Harry Willmann; and brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Don Griesbaum, Wes Emert, and Mary Smith.
He is survived by his wife Penny, nee Muirhead, Willmann of New Baden, whom he married December 6, 1968 in Highland; children, Jerry Willmann, Jr. of Fayetteville, NC, Todd (Janet) Willmann of Las Vegas, and Melissa (friend Mark Cline) Linder of New Baden; grandchildren, Selena and Jessica Willmann, Drew Linder, and Harper Prater; a sister, Barb May of Belleville; and sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Barb Willmann of Highland, Janet Willmann of St. Louis, Kay Emert of Kentucky, Linda Muirhead of Colorado, and Steve Smith of Colorado.
Butsy was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War, formerly worked as a truck driver for Montez in Millstadt, and was a former member of the Summerfield Volunteer Fire Department and little league coach.
Mr. Williams enjoyed racing stock cars.
A Memorial Gathering will be Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Lions Club Hall in Summerfield.
Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family and will be received at the Lions Club Hall or through Moss Funeral Home in Breese who is serving the family.
